Al Jarreau
Al Jarreau’s unique vocal style is one of the world’s most precious treasures. His innovative musical expressions have made
him one of the most exciting and critically acclaimed performers of our time with five Grammy Awards, scores of international music awards,
and popular accolades worldwide.
Jarreau is the only vocalist in history to receive Grammy awards in three different categories (jazz, pop, and R&B, respectively). The
son of a vicar, he earned his first performing experience singing in the church choir. In 1975 Jarreau earned acclaim for his sophisticated
brand of vocalise for “We Got By.” With 1981’s “Breakin’ Away,” he entered the Top Ten, scoring a pair
of hits with the title track and “We’re in This Love Together.” After recording 1986’s “L Is for Lover,” Jarreau
scored a hit with the theme to the popular television program “Moonlighting.”
Jarreau released his first-ever compilation album, “Best of Al Jarreau” in 1996 to commemorate his 20 years of success. The
collection highlights 14 of Jarrreau’s best-known songs alongside two new tracks produced by Jarreau’s longtime friend, jazz
giant George Duke. In addition to concert tours, Jarreau has performed on Broadway and has had guest star appearances on “New York
Undercover,” and “Touched By An Angel.”
