Beneficiaries of this benefit include the Holy Rosary School, the African American School and the Rotary Boys and Girls Club.

Holy Rosary School

Holy Rosary School is a community of students, parents and educators working together in a spirit of faith, hope and love. Founded in 1913, the school currently serves 475 students from Kindergarten through eighth grade.

At Holy Rosary we continually seek to achieve our goal of providing students a complete education — spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, aesthetically, and physically in preparation for a positive and productive future. In recognition of our achievements, the Department of Education has twice honored Holy Rosary as a School of Excellence with the prestigious “Blue Ribbon School Award.”

The Holy Rosary School Endowment fund was initiated during the 1980s by its pastor, Father James Mallahan. Through the generosity of school families, parishioners, and the community, this fund has grown to over $650,000. Earnings from the invested funds are used to support tuition assistance.

Holy Rosary welcomes any student with a desire for a Catholic education. In this spirit the school is committed to providing tuition assistance to families in need. Presently, just over $50,000 is used towards tuition assistance, however earnings from the invested endowment do not meet this need. It is the goal of the School Development Committee to increase the Father James Mallahan Endowment Fund to one million dollars over the next four years.

African American School

In 1990 the African American Academy was one of 10 programs approved by the Seattle School District to eliminate the academic achievement gap facing children of color. The African American Academy currently serves 500 scholars grades Kindergarten through eighth grade.

At the Academy students are refer to as SCHOLAR, an acronym representing:

  • Self-discipline
  • Confident
  • Hardworking
  • Original
  • Love
  • Attitude determines my altitude
  • Respect

Our vision for the African American Academy is to become a premiere academic institution dedicated to meeting the social, emotional and cultural needs of every child that walks across our threshold.
